Excavations and Earthworks specialists.

Excavations

Digging, trenching, and drilling. This includes Site cuts, which involve stripping and separating topsoil then cutting down the clay with the digger to the specified height. Site fills, which involve adding clay or metal and compacting it to Geotech engineer specification. Auger drilling for post holes. And trenching for utilities pipes and cable conduits.

Retaining walls.

An engineered structure built on the change of ground elevation, designed to stop the upper land mass or weight-bearing structures collapsing and eroding downhill. We have experience with all types and sizes of timber, masonry and steel retaining, and can handle all aspects of drainage. We only build engineer-designed retaining structures.

Driveways.

Concrete driveways can be created in various architectural finishes and colours. These are created in 100mm thick for light traffic, or 150mm thick for heavier traffic and trucks. We handle all aspects of driveway construction including earthworks, stormwater systems, steelwork, boxing, concrete placement and finishing.

Silt control.

Installed filtration systems stop silt runoff from entering local waterways, wildlife habitats and public drains. This is a Council requirement for all earthworks sites. Most jobs require regulation silt fencing and cuts and batters need to be covered with polyethylene to avoid erosion. Sites may also require wheel washes for trucks, silt socks around drains and even diversion and decanting bunds.

Building platforms.

On top of an earthworks cut, in the area where the building will be, we import, spread and compact metal to create a solid, clean base to start construction upon. This is lasered to an exact level which enables the slab to be completed to the finished floor level (FFL).

Site cuts.

These involve stripping and separating topsoil and then cutting down the clay to a specified height. Spoil can be stockpiled for use on-site or trucked off site. Site cuts are guided by surveyed reference levels and carried out by a technician using a rotating laser level, working together with a digger operator. Geotech testing is required to confirm finished soil quality.

Site fills.

A fill is the addition of compacted, clean clay or aggregate to raise the ground level. We can use moisture-controlled clean clay compacted with a pad foot roller, or metal and other aggregates compacted with a smooth drum roller or plate compactor in all weather conditions. Geotech testing is required in layers to confirm the engineers compaction grade is achieved.

Shaping.

Batters, contours and gullies can improve your land by providing channelled overland water flow, shelter from wind, safe transitions to reduce dangerous drops, reduce erosion risks and add architectural visual appeal. We know how these features work to add value to your land and make it as safe and usable as possible.

Accessways.

Compacted metal driveways enable access to site for materials, equipment and tradesmen so that deliveries, heavy equipment and trade vehicles are kept off public roads and closer to where they are needed, reducing logistical hours. We cut the topsoil layer off to expose clean clay then compact layers of lime rock, gap 65 and gap 40 to create a stable accessway into the property.
